GoodRx – We have a lot of Medicare clients and through our research of helping these clients, we have found that GoodRX can sometimes save you money on certain medications when comparing it to a current Prescription Drug Plan (PDP). If you do not have a PDP plan, GoodRx can be a great value to you. Check out their GoodRx Gold Membership for even more savings.

Canadian Meds – When it comes to certain medications now days, we just don’t have a solution to save our clients money other than services like this on at Northwest Pharmacy. We’ve had clients try a lot of different services in the past, but this one seems to be consistent on a lot of medications. If you are having a hard time paying for your medications, you may want to try this site or most likely there is a Discounted Pharmacy that may do the same thing in your own neighborhood. Do you research and make sure you are not overpaying for your medications.

Government

Government Links

Social Security Administration www.ssa.gov The United States Social Security Administration (SSA) is an independent agency of the U.S. federal government that administers Social Security, a social insurance program consisting of retirement, disability, and survivors’ benefits. These programs and services are things such as Social Security Benefits, Signing up for Medicare, getting Extra Help for medications and a lot more.

Medicare.gov can be one of your best resources especially when you are first signing up for Medicare Part A & Part B.  Some people get Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) automatically and other people have to sign up for it. In most cases, it depends on whether you’re getting Social Security benefits. If you follow this link and select the situation that applies to you on that page, it will guide you through the process.

Low Income Subsidy (LIS) also referred to as Extra Help is a program developed to help Medicare recipients lower their drug costs.  If your income is low enough, you can probably qualify. A lot of Medicare beneficiaries do not realize they can get this extra help on their medication costs.  To qualify for extra help with Medicare prescription drug plan costs in 2019, your annual income must be limited to $18,735 for an individual ($25,365 for a married couple living together).

Medicaid which is also referred to the Department of Children and Family. Medicaid provides medical coverage to low-income individuals and families. The state and federal government share the cost of the Medicaid program. Medicaid services in Florida are administered by the Agency for Health Care Administration. Most people think that they don’t qualify for Medicaid, but we usually find that you need help, apply and sometimes you’ll get LIS (help with medications) Medicare Savings Program (pays your Part B premium) or something else.
