Dave Cook – Managing Partner

Dave Cook grew up in Port Huron, Michigan. Michigan is where he attended school, achieved pretty good grades which later got him a position in the automotive engineering field. Dave has always been creative and a leader among his friends and peers. Through these experiences he worked his way up to becoming the Design Engineering Manager of one of the largest automotive plastic companies in the world. After numerous buyout acquisitions and seeing how unstable the automotive industry was, he decided to move his family to a better life in the state of Florida.

After moving down to Florida with his wife (Dawn) and his two daughters (Kerstin and Nikky), they opened a franchise in which the concept was developed in the state of California. While in Florida, Dave and Dawn expanded this newly developed franchise in the state of Florida to over six locations. With that achievement it gained them the tributes of becoming franchisees of the year. They grew their franchise territory to its full potential, but through more self-awareness and development they realized that the franchise concept was not for them and sold it in 2012.

Dave believes in the world of economy there are four quadrants in business. You are either a employee, a small business owner or a sole proprietor (like a doctor or lawyer) and on the other side is you own a big business or you are an investor. In order to achieve his goals in life he became very familiar with this concept and decided to move his efforts to the other side on the quadrant. As one of his mentors once said “If you help enough other people get what they want, you can have everything you want” ~ Zig Ziglar. So through continual education and self development, he realized that in order to achieve his goals in life, the Insurance business model offered the perfect fit. Dave mentioned “In what other business can you help so many people. Insurance can be very confusing to a lot of people and helping them understand these complex products can be very rewarding and beneficial.”

Since joining another insurance agency in 2012, Dave has been instrumental in helping develop and improving systems. Within the other agency while still building Safeguard Assurance, he became one of the two managing partners. Through this partnership he gained a vast amount of knowledge in the insurance industry, but decided to leave and build his agency brand (Safeguard Assurance LLC) that he and his wife (Dawn) started back in 2012.

As of today, they continue put their clients first while helping other agents in their downline meet and exceed their expections.

Dawn Cook – Managing Partner

Dawn Cook is originally from Marysville, Michigan. She graduated high school and college with honors and first enjoyed serving and helping people, in her first career path, as a certified public accountant from 1989 – 2004. Her clients and colleagues appreciated her attention to detail and quality.

She met her wonderful husband Dave just before graduating high school and has been swept off her feet ever since he married her in 1989. Two children were in their plans and gratefully two daughters, Kerstin and Nicole, arrived in 1994 and 1996. In 2004, Dave had the awesome idea to move his family from cold and almost always cloudy Michigan to warm and almost always sunny Florida. Dawn, Dave and the girls (Nikky quit saying she missed the snow in about 2008) have been happy here in Florida and they couldn’t imagine leaving the sunshine state. Dawn enjoyed building the franchise with Dave as their first business venture in Florida, but she was also glad when that business venture and Dave’s insight led them to the insurance industry in 2012.

Dawn had never thought about being an insurance agent, but it has really grown on her. She can use her professional and trusted client service practices from her years as a CPA to help people understand their insurance needs and to help them make the best decision for them. As an insurance agent and adviser, she really loves the education and understanding that she can offer to her clients. She also loves building a caring relationship with her clients by learning what is most important to them and what goals they want to accomplish. With the variety of all the insurance products available, there is one that she can find that will meet those client needs.

Dawn has always been interested in the self-development and financial literacy teachings from many great mentors like Jim Rohn and Robert Kiyosaki. (They named their dog Kiyo if that gives you any idea of the benefits they received from Kiyosaki.). She tries her best to practice what she learns to better herself and help others. Dawn feels that the relationships she has been building with all her clients has helped her to grow as person. It is an ongoing process and Dawn will always be learning. That continual learning is also applied to the insurance industry, where it is always exciting and full of opportunities.

Building Safeguard Assurance along with her husband Dave has been very rewarding for them both while helping a lot of clients aling the way.
